What is Credit Counseling?
Everything you ever wanted to know about credit including free credit reports to use in credit repair. Understand consumer credit counseling and debt consolidation credit counseling. Use low-interest credit cards for bill consolidation to repair credit and rebuild credit while avoiding bankruptcy.
American Consumer Credit Counseling provides a debt management plan that will assist you in becoming debt free. The plan will allow you to consolidate your credit card bills into one low monthly payment, reduce your interest and provide you the best plan of action for a debt free future.
Education is the key ingredient to credit counseling and your debt management plan. Through American Consumer Credit Counseling's comprehensive education source, you will learn all aspects of personal money management and obtain the tools needed to manage your finances for the future.
SPRINGBOARD is a non-profit consumer credit management organization formed in 1974 by local business leaders and credit grantors. Our mission is simple: To offer education on the wise use of credit and to serve as an alternative to bankruptcy.
Mind the fees. Steer clear of agencies that say they have no up front fees but tuck a sentence into your contract stating, "I voluntarily agree to contribute one month's payment..." A "voluntary contribution" that is non-negotiable is a red flag. So are up front fees that are a percentage of your debt load. "Once they get the up front fee, there's no incentive to help you," said Robert Manning, author of "Credit Card Nation."
ACCC is truly dedicated to helping people regain control of their finances and we do our best to offer our DMP (Debt Management Plan) service at a reasonable cost to the consumer. There is not, nor has there ever been any charge whatsoever for a counseling session if the consumer does not enroll into a DMP plan. ACCC waives enrollment fees completely for any hardship as well as for students, senior citizens and veterans. ACCC maintains one of the lowest true fee structures of any agency in the U.S. Our goal has always been to provide the best service to the consumer at the lowest possible cost and our fees have ALWAYS been among the lowest.
What are your enrollment fees?
What do you consider as a voluntary fee?
Are there any hidden fees that I should know about?
What type of budget and debt counseling will I be receiving?
Avoid agencies that don't provide adequate counseling. If they are not willing to spend time with you, keep searching.
Some Agencies argue that their fees must be high in order to provide superior client services. ACCC does not agree. ACCC has maintained the lowest "true" fee structure in the industry for over 10 years and consistently provides its clients with superior service by highly trained and skilled professionals
